Telephoning = Telefonare

SAMPLE DIALOGS
Dialog 1
TOM: Ugh, the party I’m trying to reach still has a busy signal.
JIM: Yeah, you don’t know what’s worse right? Hearing the sound of an engaged tone, or being put on hold and having to listen to that elevator music, right?
TOM: I don’t even like hearing a dialing tone. That’s why I like my cell phone much better: just punch the number in and push dial. No annoying sounds at all.
JIM: Well at least it’s not like the days when we had fax machines and dialup internet.
TOM: That’s true, yeah, those sounds were even worse. The busy signal pales in comparison.
JIM: These days the most annoying sound in the office is the boss complaining about dial tones.
TOM: You trying to say something?!
Dialog 2
TOM: Hey did you write down that client’s number? He was talking so fast I didn’t have time.
JIM: Yeah, you ready?
TOM: Shoot.
JIM: It’s three four three, six oh two, double-oh double-five.
TOM: Aha, that’s 343 602 0055?
JIM: Exactly.
TOM: And what was his name again?
JIM: Mr. Hortlshpratzen.
TOM: What?
JIM: I have it written down. Here you go.
Dialog 3
TOM: Good day, I’m looking for Mr. Owens.
JIM: Hello. Could you say that one more time, please, I’m having trouble hearing you.
TOM: Yes, I said I’m looking for Mr. Owens.
JIM: Aha Mr. Owens, can I tell him who is calling?
TOM: Yes, this is Mr. Jereb.
JIM: Who? Really, there is a lot of static on the line, you’re breaking up. One more time?
TOM: Mr. Jereb.
JIM: Aha, Mr. Jereb. I’ll put you through.
TOM: Thank you.
JIM: What was that? This is a truly terrible connection. Are you driving in the mountains?
TOM: Yes my whole country has mountains, I said THANK YOU!!!
Dialog 4
TOM: Mr. Jereb on the phone.
JIM: Hi Mr. Jereb, am I interrupting.
TOM: No, not at all, what can I do for you?
JIM: Are you sure I’m not bothering you, I can always call back another time.
TOM: I already said it’s fine, how can I help you.
JIM: I really would hate to be annoying.
TOM: How many times do I have to say it? Just tell me what you want.
JIM: Ok, ok. I called to talk about a potential deal.
TOM: Sheesh, was that so hard?
Dialog 5
TOM: I’m looking for Mrs. Maja Kranc.
JIM: Sorry, she’s not in right now. I’d be happy to give her a message, though.

JIM: Sure thing. Does she have your number?
TOM: I should hope so, we’ve been doing business together for a while.
